Learn To Fly 2: A Truly Addictive Sequel
If you have played the first version of Learn To Fly then you are probably excited about seeing some new game play. And if you are completely new to the game then you are in for a treat.
We have put together this guide so that you can get the most out of this truly unique game. So, keep reading and enjoy helping a penguin to fly.
What Is The Aim Of Learn To Fly?
As the name suggests, the aim is to learn how to fly. But there is a problem: Penguins Cannot Fly!
So, the solution is actually quite simple. You have to use technology to your advantage and get this flightless bird airborne with rockets and gliders. This might sound like a really simple task, but there is a lot more to the story.
In order to fly farther, faster, higher and longer you need different tactics and boosts to succeed. But these are not all available from the start. This means you have to earn points and save sardines in order to unlock additional features as the levels progress.
The next thing you have to contend with is the obstacles that are put in your way. Dependent on what challenge is set for the level you have some difficulties getting over the objects. It will take a lot of practice to get your game play right.
How Do The Controls Work?
The great thing about this game is that you will get used to the controls in a matter of minutes. Use the arrow keys to navigate and the space key to boost your flight to avoid stalling.
The difficulty is in the timing of these controls. When you get the timing wrong, you will definitely end up crashing back to earth. In the early stages of the game, this is not very difficult to achieve. But as you progress you will need more skill and upgrades to succeed.
What Is New In This Version?
There are a couple of new features that you will love. These will bring new game play that make sure you do not get bored of the game.
First of all, you can now add payloads to your penguin. These are used in order to destroy obstacles that will come along. Payloads are either single use or multi use and this will dictate their cost and effectiveness.
The payloads range from sand bags to nuclear warheads and dark matter. Each one is effective for different objects and the more powerful they are the more expensive they are to unlock.
To help you get airborne quicker there are now sleds available that also have to be unlocked. Each sled functions differently. They either increase your take off speed or they shorten your take off distance. Use these sleds carefully dependent on the challenge being set.
Introduction To Challenges
The cool thing about this game is that there loads of different challenges. These become increasingly more difficult to achieve and you will have to quickly learn how to skillfully apply the different features.
The aim here is to cover as long a distance as possible. The range starts at 100 feet and goes up to 4000 feet. As you fly along you will have to navigate objects and make sure you do not run out of boost to get you to the end.
Here you will have to get high enough to avoid the obstacles in the way. The lowest level is 10 feet, but you will have to go as high as 400 feet for some objects. Your strategy for getting airborne and over the higher objects will quickly have to adapt to avoid a crash.
This is a really fun challenge where you will need to use different sleds in order to have a higher take off speed. The faster you are at the start the more speed you can build up before you run out of the boost. You will start to aim for 35 mph and at the highest level you will have to get to 450 mph.
This can be one of the most challenging things to complete. You will most likely have to resort to a glider and a slow take off speed. The aim is to fly for as long as possible, which means using your boost just enough to not stall. The durations range from 10 to 90 seconds.
This is probably one of the most favorite game challenges of all. You have to try and use your different payload objects to try and destroy objects that are in the way. The bigger the object the more difficult the task becomes. The simplest object to destroy is the snowman and the most difficult one is the wall.
There are a few other minor challenges that are fun as well, and they aim at flying backwards, bouncing off the ground and diving into the sea. These are actually quite easy to achieve and sometimes even happen accidentally.
